Gibson County
Johnson Township Cemeteries:

1. Emerson Hill - Because we were tipped off by the farmer down the road while visiting the Emerson Pioneer cemetery in Montgomery Township, we were able to find this weed-buried cemetery. We had to make quite a trek on an old path and past a small pond to reach it at the top of the hill. We searched for the headstone a woman our dad said he had known from grade school, but the weeds defeated us on that search. We still considered this a good find of an old abandoned cemetery.
2. Gwaltney - Completely destroyed.
3. Marchand -
This one is one of our drive-by cemeteries. It's not a hidden one, but it did have one of our relatives buried there.
4. Marvel - Completely destroyed.
5. New Salem aka Stunkel -
One photo shows a headstone with a handshake with the index finger pointed downward. We see this on a lot of stones. Most research says that the handshake is a farewell, and the one finger pointing down means the life was ended abruptly and left one behind down on earth. There were some more sinister ideas about what the finger pointing down meant too. The worst being an Illuminati symbol honoring Satan. Yikes.
6. Nobles Chapel
7. Powell -
Powell Cemetery and Williams Cemetery are very close to each other and right at the edge of the same road.
8. St. James
9. St. Stephens
10. Sts. Peter & Paul

11. Tabor - We
liked the line of very thick headstones and the very thin headstones here.

12. Williams - Powell Cemetery and Williams Cemetery are very close to each other and right at the edge of the same road.

13. Withrow - A single stone located in a woods behind a church. It was a very thorny hike into that woods.
